Bootcamp Life Week 8 - Work Hard, Relax Hard

So this week was good. Things are getting more complex at the bootcamp. We are now connecting backend and frontend, using both Ruby on Rails and Javascript. While most classmates and I felt very challenged by this week's material, some felt very hyped by the sheer endless possibilities that it gives us for our developer tool box. I like that attitude. Just imagine how much more we can build now!

This week we have been practicing retrieving data from APIs, using Ajax for async rendering, traversing the DOM, all that good jQuery stuff, and integrating object oriented Javascript at the same time. On Monday we have a final exam of this module coming up and for the first time I am not really sure if I feel ready for that yet... But I did put in some hours on the weekend to practice refactoring code into OO Javascript, build some website features from scratch and play around with Bootstrap components. After all, our huge final project which will be presented at Flatiron School's science fair is coming. Slowly but surely.

Despite the rich curriculum I tried to destress as much as possible to keep myself sane. Going to the beach on 4th of July, sunbathing in Prospect Park, going to the movies ("Baby Driver" - very entertaining!). To re-energize during school, I took many strolls in the school's neighborhood during lunch break. I am trying to see the world through tourist glasses: like seeing the world for the first time, marvelling at literally every stick and stone, taking pictures endlessly, soaking in the atmosphere, just being present, ...

So here are this week's pictures:

Where is the water? 4th of July, 90 degrees, and the beach (Coney Island) is packed...
